Different Strokes

We’re thrilled to announce we are collaborating with Different Strokes as they launch their bursary scheme.

MOTIONrehab has partnered with the charity Different Strokes to support stroke survivors through a bursary fund initiative. This collaboration aims to enhance access to specialised rehabilitation services, enabling survivors to achieve better recovery outcomes and improve their quality of life.

Different Strokes, a charity dedicated to young stroke survivors, recognises the unique challenges faced by this group, who often struggle with the sudden life changes brought on by a stroke. The bursary fund, established by the charity, seeks to alleviate financial barriers that prevent survivors from accessing essential rehabilitation services. By partnering with MOTIONrehab across the Yorkshire and Humber region, the initiative ensures that beneficiaries receive high-quality, personalised care tailored to their specific needs.

MOTIONrehab is renowned for its innovative approach to neurological rehabilitation, incorporating advanced technology and evidence-based therapies. Their services include robotic-assisted physiotherapy, virtual reality, and functional electrical stimulation, which are designed to promote neuroplasticity and aid recovery. The partnership with Different Strokes allows stroke survivors to utilise these cutting-edge treatments.

The bursary fund will cover various aspects of the rehabilitation process, including initial assessments, ongoing therapy sessions, and access to MOTIONrehab’s state-of-the-art facilities. This comprehensive support ensures that survivors can embark on a consistent and effective rehabilitation journey. The goal is to maximise recovery potential, helping individuals regain independence and improve their overall well-being.

Different Strokes hope to support at least 80 stroke survivors with this funding.  “Each successful applicant will receive rehabilitation to the value of £1,000 with one of the rehabilitation centres that we are partnering with (MOTIONrehab in Yorkshire & Humber Region).  “Applicants will be required to contribute to a portion of the costs themselves, the amount will vary depending upon their financial situation”

Stroke survivors who wish to apply for the bursary fund must meet specific criteria set by Different Strokes. These criteria are designed to ensure that the support reaches those who need it most. Eligible applicants will undergo a thorough assessment by MOTIONrehab’s team of experts, who will then develop a customised rehabilitation plan based on the individual’s unique needs and recovery goals.

“Funds will be available to support stroke survivors to access private physiotherapy and rehabilitation…to provide a crucial service to benefit people who are no longer receiving NHS care or are unable to pay for private physiotherapy or rehabilitation services themselves”.

Overall, the MOTIONrehab and Different Strokes partnership exemplifies how collaborative efforts can bridge gaps in healthcare, offering hope and tangible support to stroke survivors on their path to recovery.
