Vicky's Story

Spinal Cord Injury

Following a spinal cord injury sustained in a horse-riding accident, Vicky began a challenging rehabilitation journey focused on rebuilding her strength, control and independence.

To support her recovery, Vicky completed two Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Programmes with MOTIONrehab.

These structured programmes gave her the opportunity to complete a high volume of focused, repetitive therapy, helping her work towards meaningful improvements in everyday function.

Intensive Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation

MOTIONrehab’s Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Programmes combine high-frequency physiotherapy, advanced rehabilitation technology and personalised, goal-led treatment.

By completing a greater volume of precise and repetitive movements over a concentrated period, clients can work intensively on the physical skills that matter most to them.

For Vicky, the programme focused on improving her core activation, pelvic stability, balance and overall control.

These areas were essential for helping her become more independent with functional activities, particularly transfers.

Vicky’s Rehabilitation Programme

Following her spinal cord injury, Vicky needed to rebuild the strength and stability required to control her trunk and pelvis.

Her rehabilitation included targeted exercises designed to activate her core muscles and improve her ability to maintain a stable position during movement.

Vicky also worked on developing her balance and control, allowing her to complete more challenging functional tasks with greater confidence.

Through consistent practice and specialist support, she was able to build the physical foundations needed for safer and more independent transfers.

The Benefits of an Intensive Approach

Completing two Intensive Rehabilitation Programmes allowed Vicky to work consistently towards her goals through high-frequency, structured therapy.

Each session was tailored to her abilities and focused on measurable progress.

The repeated practice helped Vicky develop greater strength, stability and control, while also building her confidence in using these skills outside the clinic.

This intensive approach ensured that her rehabilitation remained focused on real-world outcomes and the activities that would make the greatest difference to her daily life.

Vicky’s Progress

Vicky made significant progress throughout her Intensive Rehabilitation Programmes.

She successfully activated her core muscles, improved her pelvic stability and developed greater balance and control.

These improvements translated into an important functional achievement: Vicky can now transfer in and out of both her own car and her husband’s car.

This has given her greater independence and flexibility in everyday life.

The impact of Vicky’s rehabilitation has extended beyond her physical progress.

She has returned to work and secured a promotion, reflecting the confidence, ability and independence she has regained throughout her journey.

Vicky’s Experience at MOTIONrehab

Reflecting on her rehabilitation, Vicky said:

“Throughout my journey, I have met some truly wonderful people whom I would never have met had my accident not occurred. The clinicians and staff at MOTIONrehab are simply fantastic. They show a genuine level of care, bring a vast amount of knowledge and expertise, and create a fun and supportive environment in which I can complete my therapy. From day one, I was made to feel at ease, which made a huge difference to me.”

Vicky’s experience highlights the importance of receiving specialist rehabilitation in an environment that feels supportive, positive and encouraging.

Moving Forward with Greater Independence

Vicky’s story demonstrates what can be achieved through a personalised and intensive approach to neurological rehabilitation.

By combining specialist clinical support with her own determination and commitment, she has achieved meaningful improvements in strength, function and independence.

Her progress has enabled her to complete important everyday transfers, return to work and move forward with renewed confidence.
