Mr Liversidge, 41, is taking on the challenge in a bid to raise £5,000 for Marie Curie Nurses and the Dove House Hospice, Hull. After being diagnosed with the muscle-wasting disease in 2013, Mr Liversidge, 41, from Rise, near Skirlaugh, has lost the ability to move.

But the self-confessed adrenaline junkie has not let his condition get in the way of his passion for excitement. After an online funding campaign to acquire a 4×4 wheelchair, he is now preparing to take on Mt Snowdon on Tuesday, July 18.

He says: “This challenge really means a lot to me.

“I used to be a fit and active bloke who loved skiing, grass tracking, motor biking and fast cars but as my condition has progressed, I can no longer shower, dress or feed myself.

“MND is killing me and has taken my independence but, while I’m still here, I won’t let it break my spirit and determination.

“It would be real easy to hate my condition and let it consume my life but the energy that hating it uses is far better spent living life.

“Pleasure comes in many forms, for me it’s time with my family, experiences like new countries, new areas, making photos and videos.

“Oh and doing extreme things like zip wires and climbing mountains!”

He is now hoping to raise money for the organisations that he and his family depend on for everyday support – Marie Curie and the Dove House Hospice.

His wife, Liz, who he married in 2010 after a whirlwind romance, says: “Jason needs 24-hour care so we really couldn’t cope without the Marie Curie Nurses.

Mrs Liversidge says: “Jason really is an inspiring person with an incredibly positive outlook.

“He is determined to not let his condition define him – he wants to carry on as long as he can and be the best dad possible.

“As well as raising money and awareness, I hope that by achieving this, he inspires other people to do what they can to overcome their serious illnesses.”
