MOTIONrehab Client, Jason Liversidge, featured in the Hull Daily Mail. The article titled ‘The heartwarming moment little girl watches her dad walk for the first time’ captures the moment six-year-old little Lilly watched her terminally-ill dad walk for the first time at MOTIONrehab’s Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Leeds.

Lilly Liversidge, from Rise, East Yorkshire, was nearly two when her father, Jason Liversidge, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Since then, Jason has been battling against it and has been wheelchair bound, although that hasn’t stopped him.

Since being diagnosed almost five years ago, Jason has gone to new heights and climbed Mount Snowden and has abseiled the Humber Bridge. Walking again is just another one of those challenges to help him get to what his wife Liz calls his “next adventure”

Jason, 41, was using an electromechanical-assisted gait trainer called Thera-Trainer LYRA at  MOTIONrehab in Leeds- the UK’s first intensive outpatient and residential neurological rehab clinic – to assist him in his walking so his little girl, Lilly, could see him.

The heartwarming pictures show Poppy watching her father walk independently for the first time in her life. A shy smile to the camera and an avid concentration on her father’s feet were captured by her mum, Liz.

Liz said: “He’s in training for his next adventure. Neither of the girls can remember him walking independently, sadly. When he was diagnosed Lilly was 22 months old and Poppy was four and a half months old. Lilly was amazed. The look on her face said it all. She just said: ‘Wow, daddy is walking’.”
