Stroke Rehabilitation

In December 2022, I had a stroke which caused a catastrophic bleed on my brain then had to spend 5 months in hospital and a further 2 months in a care home while my home was being adapted. The prognosis, I had been given by the specialist at the hospital was not at all promising – having been told I would never walk unaided or weight bear on my affected side.

However, then very luckily, I began working with Chris from MOTIONrehab in Hull who visited me at the care home.  The first time I met him he helped me to stand for the first time in 10 months and the second time he helped me to walk!

The feeling of achievement and the hope for the future was overwhelming to have some positive news to give my family was incredible to make the most of the sessions I made sure that I continued to do the exercises I had been shown in between visits.  Chris’s positivity and boundless energy motivated and inspired me to try and be the best version of me that I can possibly be and really enjoy my life again.

After returning to live at home, I was able to start a package with MOTIONrehab and attended the clinic on a more frequent basis. The atmosphere at the clinic is warm, positive and welcoming and it has become my safe place – working with the team of therapist has been fun and motivating. Tom has assembled a team of therapists who clearly care about each individual and their potential.

I have been set a variety of different challenges and goals during the package and now only 10 months after my stroke, and three months of working with MOTIONrehab, I am now proud of who I am and have so much of my old life back that it is a joy.

I know I could never have achieved this without the support of Tom’s team and MOTIONrehab.
