A powerful video created by a client at MOTIONrehab Leeds is shining a spotlight on the extraordinary progress possible through intensive rehabilitation.

Dave, who came to Motion Rehab’s Leeds clinic in Spring 2019 after suffering a brain stem stroke, was left with locked-in syndrome — a condition that initially left him only able to move his eyes and blink. Since then, Dave has attended intensive rehabilitation sessions twice a week and has made remarkable progress.

What makes his story even more inspiring is that Dave produced the video himself using eye gaze technology — software that allows him to use his eyes like a mouse to control his computer. The video offers an authentic insight into his rehabilitation journey, his reflections on recovery, and the deep impact of the support he’s received from the MOTIONrehab team.

“When one of our clients, Dave, offered to share a deeper insight into their world, and reflect on their experience with us, we didn’t expect it to capture the ethos of what we offer to quite the extent it did. His own resilience, determination, perseverance and humour make for an inspiring story. He kindly agreed to produce a shortened version for our website.”
– said MOTIONrehab.

Though MOTIONrehab is known for its use of state-of-the-art robotic therapy equipment, Dave explains in the video that the benefits go well beyond the technology — highlighting MOTIONrehab’s services as a fantastic example of a person-centred approach.
