MOTIONrehab’s Clinical Director, Sarah Daniel spoke to David Burns on BBC Radio Humberside today.

Sarah discussed the opening of MOTIONrehab’s new clinic in Hull. The centre in Hull is the first neurological rehabilitation company in the UK to offer LEXO Robotic Gait Training.

The LEXO is revolutionising walking rehabilitation for individuals with Stroke, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy and many other Neurological Conditions as well as Poly Trauma.

The LEXO is the latest in robotic technology, offering end-effector robotic gait training which is supported by research. The end-effector design drives movement from the feet and stimulates controlled active movement through the knees and hips, to replicate a natural walking pattern and promote recovery of walking ability.

Uniquely, the LEXO also has dynamic body weight support system to help facilitate the natural movements around the pelvis and spine needed for independent walking. The built-in sensors give real-time feedback on an individual’s performance via a screen, which is highly motivating for the user. The LEXO allows wide range of people with varying abilities to participate in high volume stepping practice in a range of simulated walking environments.

The LEXO is based on the scientifically established principles that high repetition of movements and specific robotic assisted gait training results in better therapy outcomes, with 20% more patients being able to walk compared to traditional therapy approaches. The LEXO enables more stepping practice in therapy sessions at a higher intensity compared to traditional therapies such as manual walking and treadmill training

The intensity and precision training provided by the LEXO improves walking ability, speed, strength, balance, stamina and independence.

Rehabilitation with MOTIONrehab and the LEXO helps a more efficient return to walking at a better quality enabling you to reach your potential.
