First glimpse of MOTIONrehab Doncaster. It was a busy week at MOTIONrehab Doncaster last week with the arrival of all the new devices from Tyromotion in Austria on Monday 12th February.

The special delivery in Doncaster comprised of the complete suite of Tyromotion devices including the LEXO robotic gait trainer. It was all hands on deck to get the boxes unpacked. There was also a little more building work this week and lots of flat pack too! The MOTIONrehab team and Tyromotion team all pulled together to get the clinic all completed on Friday ready for the MOTIONrehab team training to commence on Monday 19th February ready for the clinic to open to patients on Monday 26th February 2024.

MOTIONrehab Doncaster will be MOTIONrehab’s third Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Centre. The centre like Leeds and Hull will offer the complete upper and lower limb Tyrosoloution from Tyromotion including it’s Robotic Gait Trainer, the LEXO enabling MOTIONrehab clients to accelerate their outcomes from their rehabilitation. MOTIONrehab was proud to be the first neurological rehabilitation company in the UK to not only pioneer intensive rehabilitation augmented with robotics in 2018, but be the first in the UK open three intensive rehabilitation centres.

The clinic in Doncaster will offer patients specialist one to one hands-on therapy from experienced and highly skilled clinicians. Uniquely to other clinics in the area, clients will also spend time training with the evidence-based robotic, motion-sensor and virtual reality devices. This allows patients to practice the high number of repetitions of movements which is critical to neuroplasticity and achieving better outcomes faster than traditional hands-on therapy alone. High-intensity rehabilitation has recently been endorsed in the National Stroke Guidelines (Sept, 2023).

MOTIONrehab’s Clinical Director and Business Owner, Sarah Daniel says

“Evidence tells us that patients need to do a high number of repetitions and lots of practice in a dynamic environment to help achieve their rehabilitation goals quicker. This was the vision for MOTIONrehab’s first clinic and what we have seen is the vision really works. The more our patients do the quicker they get better and the more satisfying our jobs are. It might be the smallest of things, suddenly they can stand up for the first time, they can open their fingers for the first time, but when that leads into being able to eat and drink on their own, being able to go back to their own home or even managing to go to the toilet on their own. Those are huge wins from tiny little steps of rehab to get them there.

Seeing that the vision really works in our Leeds and Hull clinics has led to MOTIONrehab’s investment in a third robotic technology suite in Doncaster. The team and I are really excited to expand our services to reach more people with neurological illness and injuries to help them reach their potential.”
