FES BIONESS L300 GO

Improve Walking Patterns

The Bioness L300 Go is a Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) device specifically designed to treat foot drop, a condition commonly caused by neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), or spinal cord injury. The device uses electrical stimulation to activate the peroneal nerve, which helps lift the foot during walking, allowing for improved gait and mobility.

The Bioness L300 Go provides a non-invasive solution to correct foot drop, improve walking patterns, and support mobility. By using functional electrical stimulation, it allows patients to regain more natural movement, reduce the risk of falls, and increase their walking speed and confidence.

How the Bioness L300 Go Helps in Rehabilitation

  • Improves Foot Clearance – The L300 Go provides electrical stimulation to the peroneal nerve, which activates the muscles that lift the foot during the swing phase of walking, reducing the risk of foot drag and improving foot clearance.
  • Restores Natural Gait – By helping lift the foot, the device encourages a more natural walking pattern, reducing compensations like high-stepping or circumduction (swinging the leg out to the side).
  • Reduces Fall Risk – The improved foot clearance and smoother walking gait help reduce the risk of tripping and falling, leading to greater walking stability and safety.
  • Promotes Muscle Activation – The device stimulates muscles, strengthening them over time and preventing muscle atrophy.
  • Increases Walking Confidence – By helping to correct foot drop and improve stability, the device boosts confidence in walking, promoting independence in daily activities.
  • Improves Walking Speed – By assisting in more natural foot movement, the device can help patients walk faster and more efficiently.
  • Supports Neuroplasticity – The repeated stimulation encourages neuroplasticity, helping the brain adapt and “relearn” motor control in the affected limb.
  • Customizable for Individual Needs – The L300 Go is adjustable, allowing patients to customize the stimulation intensity, duration, and frequency to suit their specific rehabilitation goals and progress.

How to Use the Bioness L300 Go Device

  • Position the cuff – The electrodes inside the cuff are positioned over the peroneal nerve, typically near the knee. This electrode sends electrical impulses to stimulate the muscles responsible for foot dorsiflexion.
  • Wear the Sensor – The device includes a sensor that detects the user’s walking motion to trigger the simulation in time of walking.
  • Adjust Settings – Customise the settings on the device, based on the patient’s comfort level and rehabilitation goals. The device adjusts automatically to the user’s walking pattern.
  • Activate the Device – When the user begins walking, the sensor detects the foot’s position and activates the electrical stimulation to the muscles when needed. This helps the foot lift naturally during the swing phase and prevents dragging.
  • Monitor Progress – Over time, users can track improvements in foot clearance, walking stability, and confidence. Adjustments to the device settings can be made as strength and coordination improve.
