On Tuesday 14th November some of the MOTIONrehab team attended Stamp Jackson and Procters “Collaboration and Innovation in Neurological Practice” CPD Event held at the University of Hull.

The event was developed to provide an insight into effective collaborative working across the brain injury pathway providing real, practical examples of regional partnerships and their impact on patient care.

MOTIONrehab’s Clinical Director, Sarah Daniel was invited to be part of the Expert Panel discussion, along with Rachel Chamberlin, Business Development Manager, Cygnet and Alex Findlay, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Everybody Needs a Voice.

Whilst at the event, the MOTIONrehab team shared about the work undertaken by MOTIONrehab’s Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Centres in Morley, Leeds and Hull. Both centres include a range of upper and lower limb robotics and virtual reality technology.

Upon accessing our Intensive Rehab Centres, MOTIONrehab clients receive a detailed initial assessment by our team of Specialist Neurological Physiotherapists.  MOTIONrehab centres offers its patients specialist one-to-one hands-on therapy from experienced and highly skilled clinicians. MOTIONrehab clients also spend time training with the robotic, sensor based and virtual reality devices. This allows our patients to practice high repetitions of movement which is critical to neuro-plasticity and achieving better outcomes quicker than traditional hand-on therapy alone.

So Why Is Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation Important?

After injury or illness of the brain or spinal cord the aim of rehabilitation is to promote the re-wiring of the nervous system (neuroplasticity) to re-learn the lost or damaged movements. The role of Neurological Physiotherapy aims to help individual͛s relearn the lost or impaired movements. However, the key to adopting the newly learnt movements is practice.

It is therefore crucial that individuals have an opportunity to repeat and practice movement to cement the new connections. This is difficult to achieve with traditional physiotherapy and exercise alone! Increasingly over the last decade or so Rehabilitation Technology has provided the means for mass practise and repetition of movements. MOTIONrehab’s Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation centres with its Robotics-Led rehabilitation is able to provide truly high repetition rehabilitation essential for the optimisation of outcomes and a quicker recovery.

Intensive Neurological Rehabilitation enables you to reach your full potential quicker.
