Alex Parry
Neurological Physiotherapist
Alex graduated in 2013 with a a BSc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Sheffield Hallam. On graduating Alex worked in a private practice in his home county of Dorset.
Alex has worked closely with a local branch of Parkinsons UK where he ran Parkinson’s exercise classes as well as, Neuro rehab classes and osteoporosis exercise classes from within the clinic. Alex is a firm believer in “treating the individual and not the condition”, working hard with patients towards their goals and ambitions. Alex has helped people get back to walking the dog, being able to go to the park with family, being able to do the stairs confidently all the way to being able to getting back to work or sport. All goals are important.
Alongside private practice, Alex has worked in various hospital settings across the country including Acute Stroke, Neuro Rehab inpatients, Outpatients and Community Neuro Teams. During the initial wave of the Covid-19 pandemic Alex worked in Poole Hospital on the acute stroke and stroke rehab wards. In the later stages of the pandemic Alex worked to help people get back on their feet after coming out of hospital in Buckinghamshire’s early supportive discharge team.
Having worked locally in the Leeds area for an acquired brain injury unit alongside Occupational Therapists, Neuro Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists, Case Managers and Solicitors Alex believes in a multi-disciplinary team approach working towards a person centred treatment plan in highly complex cases with social, cognitive and medical difficulties.
Alex has experience with treating people using Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for Dropped Foot, Saebo assistive devices and with the use of muscle stimulation for the upper and lower limb.
Alex is based at MOTIONrehab Leeds.
